Don’t Travel the World Without Your Dog, Dog riding in a car
For some people, traveling without their dog is as unthinkable as traveling without their kids. As a result, they often choose not to travel at all. Travel, especially extended travel, is complicated. Traveling by yourself is the easiest way because you have no one else to worry about and no one else to please.

Of course, you will also have no one to keep you company. Traveling with another person adds even more complexity. Almost everything you do is twice as expensive. You have to book two plane tickets. Every meal is for two. And your hotel room or villa is more expensive when there are two adults. The price can really add up fast.

If you have taken day-trips with your dog, you already know many of the challenges and joys of traveling with pets. But everything is ramped up to a new level when you are traveling overseas, and for a long stay. It gets worse. There is a good chance that such a trip will include multiple locations. So all the challenges are multiplied by the number of locations you visit along the way.

Don't travel the world without you dog, here are some ways to make life easier for you and your pup:

Activities for Dogs
Don’t Travel the World Without Your Dog, Dogs on the beach
Not all beaches are dog-friendly. And not all parts of the world are dog-friendly. So when you bring your dog with you on a long trip, you have to be sure to know which activities are canine inclusive. You are going to need to be willing to engage in more activity than you normally would if you have an active dog.

You have got to be prepared to walk longer, play fetch longer, do more hiking and less beach sitting. Your joints might ache a little more than usual with all that extra activity. So be sure to bring plenty of CBD chews and any other home remedy you rely on that might not be available to you in the place you are visiting.

Lodging
Don’t Travel the World Without Your Dog, Dog laying on bed
Many hotels will not allow you to leave your dog in the room unsupervised. This can be a real problem if it is just you and your dog. Some extra research will need to be done to find pet friendly hotels. I'm not saying it will be easy, but depending on your destination you may be able to work something out.

You also have to carefully read the fine print. A pet-friendly hotel might restrict based on breed and weight. You don’t want to get there only to learn that your Dog is one Happy Meal over the limit. You also want to be sure you can leave your pet in the room while you go off and do something else. This is the kind of fine print that can make life difficult for travelers with pets.

It is different from being at home because you can just leave your dog in the house or backyard to entertain itself. When traveling, you have to be a lot more hands on. Be sure to source those dog-friendly activities before you leave for the trip.

Be Willing to Sacrifice

Having a canine companion is a lot of responsibility. It requires a lot of sacrifice. You will have to make twice as much sacrifice when you travel. It becomes a matter of managing limitations. Your choice of flights is limited to the airlines that have favorable pet policies.

Your choice of restaurants is limited. Your choice of hotels and house rentals are limited. Everything you do with your pet will likely be more expensive due to pet fees and deposits. Nothing you do on vacation will be easy with a dog, but it is possible for those who cant stand the thought of leaving their pup at home.

It takes a lot of extra research beforehand. But these limitations are possible to manage. Just be prepared to make a few extra sacrifices.

Cleanup Duty

No matter how well-trained and house broken your pet is, being in new places has a way of bringing the worst out of them, and at the most awkward times. You have to be prepared with poop bags all the time. It could happen in a restaurant, or beach, or police station. “So sorry, constable.” Being a responsible pet traveler means always being able to quickly and thoroughly perform cleanup duty.

Traveling with a pet is more expensive, challenging to plan activities, imposes limitations, and requires a lot of cleanup duty. Even so, it is one of the most rewarding ways to travel there is. We hope this article helps in your quest to explore the world with your best friend.

What you need to know about traveling to Myanmar during this pandemic, landscape
Since its emergence from oppressive government policies and half a century of isolation, Myanmar has become a main attraction of the tourism industry. Its former name was Burma and during 2016-2017 it was the least-visited destination of South-East Asia that gained momentum as the hottest new place to visit. Soon cruise lines dropped their anchors, tour operators started organizing itineraries, ATMs started opening and the first Burmese KFC started its inaugural store.

Visitors returned ranting about how exotic and magical the place was and how it barely changed since the last 5 decades. Numerous Buddhist temples and Golden Pagodas were attended by monks in red-colored robes. Several poets were inspired by the beauty of the sunset across the Irrawaddy River.

Here is what you need to know about traveling to Myanmar during this pandemic

Visiting Myanmar from the US – Visa requirements

Being an American citizen, you have access to several countries of the world, both with a visa and without a visa. Nevertheless, there are times when you may require more planning as the visa requirements can a bit tricky. American citizens who wish to visit Myanmar need to apply for a Myanmar visa for US citizens to enter the country.

What you need to know about traveling to Myanmar during this pandemic, Passport
Do US citizens need a visa to enter Myanmar?
Yes, American passport holders will require a visa to visit Myanmar. Moreover, they also have to conform to certain regulations for entering the country even though they had a visa. They can only exit and enter the country through Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Yangon International Airports. Hence, it is needless to mention that the seaport entry and land border aren’t allowed.

Is there a visa-on-arrival for Myanmar?
Yes, for visiting Myanmar, there is a visa-on-arrival option that has similar requirements as the e-visa for tourists. This visa lets you visit the place for a total of 28 days.

Will I be allowed to enter Myanmar multiple times?
No, you won’t be allowed. The visa allows you single entry and so don’t forget the fact that you can only enter once before you plan the trip.

How to obtain a visa for Myanmar?
You’ll require a passport, a method of payment, and a photograph. For processing your visa, you would require a passport that has a minimum of 6 month’s validity from the date of entering the place, a digital photograph of the visitor, and a credit/debit card or a Paypal account.

Currently, with the second wave wreaking havoc worldwide, all new tourist visa applications are presently suspended. However, these rules and regulations are subject to change as and when the situation improves.

A Family’s Guide to Visiting America's Finest City, Lighthouse
America's Finest City is waiting for you and your family, but to make this trip to San Diego perfect, a guide and me super helpful. You need to know where to go in San Diego. The following is a quick guide to get the most out of this city when you visit.

A Family's Guide to Visiting America's Finest City

Theme Park
A Family’s Guide to Visiting America's Finest City, Legoland
You'll be near some of the most popular theme parks in California, and you're going there with your kids. You need to include at least one of these theme parks in your itinerary. For example, you could take your kids to Disneyland, which is only a few hours away.

LEGOLAND, which is another fantastic destination, is located closer. A theme park can easily fill a day because there's so much to do there.

Fun and Games for Mom and Dad
Sometimes, people get so caught up in planning the perfect family vacation for their kids that they forget about themselves. The parents need a little alone time. They need time to let go and release some of that stress you feel as a parent. This trip is as much yours as it is theirs. What kids consider fun may not be what adults enjoy, so you should add a parent activity.

It just so happens there are many casino resorts in Southern California. The list of best San Diego casino resorts starts with Sycuan, so keep that in mind as you plan out your trip. If needed, some hotels offer baby-sitting services to ensure this is a parent-only outing.

Practical and Sunny
One thing some families forget when they go to San Diego is sunscreen. This is more of a practical note, but it should be said. You need to make sure you have enough sunscreen for everyone. California is a sunny state, and that means your family will be exposed to the sun frequently. Several of the activities will require that you go out. Such as enjoying some time on one of the many beautiful beaches. Sunscreen is necessary every day, and you should apply more during the day as instructed on your sunscreen label.

A Lot of Zoos
A Family’s Guide to Visiting America's Finest City, San Diego Zoo
San Diego is known for zoos, and the best zoos in the state are there. You should consider taking a trip to one of these with your kids. There's the San Diego Zoo, one of the most popular ones, but there's also the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. What makes the San Diego Zoo Safari Park special is that you get to see animals roam in a natural setting. The Safari Park (which is part of the San Diego Zoo) has over 100 acres of land for animals to roam free.

For the sunny days at the Zoo, don't forget to take your pair of favorite sunglasses to protect your eyes from the UV rays. Check out SmartBuyGlasses.com's variety of products giving customers the power to shop glasses online. Browse over 180 brands and choose the perfect pair of sunnies for all the family.

The Mexican Influence
San Diego has food from all over the world, especially from Latin American countries. You'll find fabulously authentic Mexican restaurants on almost every corner. This makes sense since you'll be close to the Mexican border, so close that you can add a trip to see the border if you want. You'll see Mexico's influence on the cuisine, and your kids should experience that. You can go to authentic restaurants or restaurants that offer a fusion of American and Mexican food.

Hopefully, this practical guide to visiting America's finest city helps you plan the perfect getaway for your family. Be sure to plan as early as you can so that you have time to research everything and make this trip what it should be.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Destination Wedding Venue, Outdoor venue
Having a destination wedding is exciting. It means you’ll marry the love of your life in the place you've always wanted. While the whole idea may make your heart skip some beats, the truth is choosing a destination wedding venue is no easy feat. Whether you dream of making those vows on a tropical beach, European chateaux, or under swinging palm trees, you have to be extra careful. With so many incredible options available around the world, how do you choose a perfect one for your big day?

Here are 6 things to consider when choosing a destination wedding venue

Number of guests
The number of guests attending your wedding is one factor you can’t assume when selecting a destination wedding venue. You don’t want to deal with constant complaints from close people you didn’t invite due to space limitations.

Don’t go for a tiny space that will make everything feel cramped. Still, a huge space is as bad as a small one. It will look dull, and it’ll feel like you invited people, and then they failed to show up.

To be on the safe side, have a balance between the two, such that there is ample space for everyone to be comfortable, and it doesn’t feel like there is extra room for guys who are yet to come.

The comfort of your guest is another area of concern. If you are for an outdoor wedding, will there be a shade to protect them from the scorching sun? Will there be an alternative in case of unforeseen weather conditions?

Your budget
There are thousands and thousands of fascinating and charming destination wedding venues around the world. But we have to be honest. Some will not fit within your budget. The best thing you can do is decide what you’re willing to spend and get a venue that will fit into it. There is no point in overstretching yourself financially in the name of paying for a wedding venue, while there are other affordable options.

Accommodation
Things to Consider When Choosing a Destination Wedding venue, hotel
Holding your wedding in a location far away from home means that your guests will need somewhere to stay before and after the big day. If it’s in a city or town, you are less likely to experience accommodation problems, since several options will be available.

The problem comes in when the venue is out of town. In such a case, you want to make sure there will be enough accommodation for your guests, either there or somewhere closer. You also want to make sure your preferred venue has ample parking for your guests.

Your wedding theme
Keep in mind that the venue you settle for will have a fundamental defining role in your wedding theme. If you’re that classic person, an indoor venue will be better than an outdoor one. If you’d want a romantic theme, selecting a venue with lots of fauna, hanging lights, and flower walls will be a great option.

But on the positive side, you can always make some adjustments to the venue to achieve something that matches your style. However, if you’re working with a tight budget, don’t go for a venue that will require you to do a complete décor makeover since it can be very expensive.

Availability
This is probably the first thing you ought to consider. Some high-demand wedding venues are usually booked years in advance. It would be so devastating to envision your wedding in a specific place only to be told that it won’t be available, and you’d be torn between settling for another location or changing the wedding date.

Whether you’re looking for wedding venues in northern NJ, Utah, California, Georgia, or any other fascinating place in the world, it’s good to confirm availability as early as you can to avoid disappointments. Especially with the recent COVID restrictions.

Photography opportunities
Things to Consider When Choosing a Destination Wedding Venue, Photography
It’s your big day. You want to have amazing and unique photos for memories. You want photos you’ll look at decades to come and remember how it was reciting your vows, kissing as your parents watch, and how you rocked that wedding gown or suit.

Before selecting a venue, you can always visit its website or social media pages to look at some of the photos from weddings held there. That should give you a glimpse of how yours will look.

If the venue doesn’t offer an excellent photography ground, are there local parks, gardens, or other fascinating places you can go for a photo session? These are some of the things you should consider to avoid ditching a good venue just because it doesn’t offer a good photography ground.

Choosing a destination wedding venue can be exciting and challenging too. The best thing is that planning other wedding details will be easy once you’ve settled for a specific location. Do it with an open mind, and make sure everything is in rhyme with what you have always dreamt of. Don’t forget to be realistic, though. When you select the right venue, all you’ll do is smile and enjoy when the big day comes, as you look forward to an exciting new phase of life.

How To Obtain A Tourist Visa For Australia, sydney opera house
If you’ve heard that Australia has very strict laws concerning tourist visas, you’ve heard right. Australia severely restricts entrance to foreigners with a criminal record, although these can still get a visa if they follow certain procedures that require a comprehensive character check.

Let’s have a look at what you need to do if you want to travel to Australia but have one or several offenses on your record.

How To Obtain A Tourist Visa For Australia Even If You Have A Criminal Record

What sort of visa do you need if you have a criminal record?
Tourists coming to Australia with a clean record can apply for a visa online. There are two types available, both of them free. If you want to apply personally, you can ask for an eVisitor visa, which can be obtained through the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

If you want to save yourself the hassle, you can opt for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) visa, which can be obtained on your behalf by your travel agency or airline carrier. You will have to pay a $20 fee for this service.

People with a criminal record are required to apply for a full visa through the Home Affairs office. Each case will be reviewed manually by an immigration officer.

What types of offenses do you need to declare when applying for an Australian visa?
A visitor to Australia is required to disclose any type of conviction on their criminal record, no matter how minor the offense might seem. Even an old drunk-driving conviction or any other traffic offense has to be disclosed when applying for a visa. This applies to both spent and unspent convictions if the system in your country makes such a distinction between old and recent convictions.

What does a substantial criminal record mean?
Australian law is very clear on that. If you have one or more convictions for which you were sentenced to a total of 12 months or more in jail, even suspended, then you have a substantial criminal record as far as the Australian immigration service is concerned.

This does not mean that you cannot apply for a visa or that you will be denied one, but you will have to prove to the immigration officer in charge of your case that you are not a threat to Australian society.

You will be required to provide a background check listing your convictions, but the real test is the character check you will have to submit to.

When obtaining a criminal record check for traveling to Australia, the correct channel to apply is the Australian Federal Police (AFP). For a criminal record check for standard employment purposes, you can go through online agencies like Australian National Character Check (ANCC) which tend to be a bit more efficient to get results faster, however, these agencies cannot be used for the purpose of your entry in Australia as immigration checks can only be obtained through the AFP.

How long does it take to get a visa?
Since people with a criminal record will need to undergo a thorough check, the whole process can take anywhere between three to 12 months. If you have any sort of convictions to declare, make sure to apply for a visa well in advance of your intended trip. Also, keep in mind that if your application is denied there is no way to appeal that decision.

On the other hand, you can reapply at a later date, unless the case officer that reviews your case puts an exclusion notification on your file. Such instances are, however, rare and only occur with serious convictions, such as drug trafficking, people trafficking, sexual abuse, or terrorism.

Hopefully, you won't have any trouble getting into this beautiful country whether you have a minor offense or not. Either way I trust this article will help you in your venture. If you have any other Australia visa tips we should know about leave them in the comments!

5 Must Have Toys For Your Next Family Trip, Toys
Whether you're on a short vacation or traveling full time with kids it can be a lifesaver to have some entertainment with you in the form of toys. I can't express enough how glad we were to make a little extra space for a few good toys and games while on the road.

Toys can come in all shapes and sizes, varying greatly depending on the age of your children. While toddlers and young kids can have a blast with a couple dolls or action figures, older kids may be looking for a bit more in a toy or game. Keep this in mind when planning what to bring on your trip and talk to your kiddos about what they think would be a good toy to bring. While factoring in how much space you have of course.

Here is a short list of our 5 must-have toys for your next family trip

Ipad or Tablet
This one may seem a little too obvious, but an Ipad or Tablet of some kind can provide endless entertainment when on the road. Not to mention all of the educational apps for kids of all ages. You can use it as a tool for homeschooling and for fun when on the road.

I'm sure I don't have to explain all of the great things you can do nowadays with a smart tablet. All I can say is that it's definitely one to consider. We have found it incredibly useful when traveling light. It can also be used for many group activities like board games and such that you normally wouldn't have with you all the time.

Action Figures/Dolls
5 Must Have Toys For Your Next Family Trip, Action figures
This one generally depends on the age range of your children and preference of course. My youngest sibling absolutely loved playing with action figures and still enjoys collecting them as a pre-teen. We've included dolls here as well because we consider them to be in the same category.

Dolls and action figures are perfect and light to carry for kiddos who love to let their imagination run wild!

Inflatable Ball or Frisbee
An inflatable ball is another great toy to travel with. Especially if you and the family like to stay active on the road. It can be a soccer ball, football, volleyball, or a simple beach ball. Bringing a ball or frisbee to a local park is a great way to meet new people and get a game of sorts going wherever you may be in the world.

Beach Toolset
5 Must Have Toys For Your Next Family Trip, beach tools
If you're planning a beach vacation with the family it would be a good idea to have some beach tools with you. This can be anything from a couple of little shovels to a full set of molds for animals and sandcastles. Some people get really into it and bring more advanced tools to create full-on works of art.

Most kiddos will have a blast with only their hands and their imagination, but having a few small tools will no doubt make your beach trip one to remember!

Deck of Cards
Bringing along a nice deck of cards is a must for us. It's probably the easiest thing to pack on this list and arguably the most entertaining. There are card games for kids of all ages that the whole family can enjoy. Some of our family favorites include Kings in the corner, War, Slap Jack, Rummy, and for the parents, some Texas hold 'em from time to time.

We hope you found this article useful for picking out some must have toys for your next family trip! What are some of your family's favorite toys? Let us know in the comments!

4 Footwear Choices When Traveling Light, hiking shoes
When you're traveling light, you'll want to pay special consideration to the shoes you chose to bring. It's pretty easy to pick up t-shirts, underwear, shorts, pants, socks, and toiletries on the road, but a good pair of travel shoes (and at a decent price) may be harder to come by. Besides, there's nothing quite as comfortable as a pair of broken-in shoes to make traveling so much nicer.

Here are 4 Footwear Choices When Traveling Light

The Classic Sneaker
If your trip doesn't require dress shoes or any other type of specialty shoe, consider a pair of classic sneakers. This category includes Chuck Taylors from Converse, the Old Skool line from Vans, the Samba Classic from Adidas, the Serrano from Onitsuka Tiger, and various re-issued retro styles from brands such as Puma, Nike, and Reebok.

The beauty of a pair of classic sneakers is that they can be as dressed up or dressed down as you make them. In fact, Converse even markets a line of their Chuck Taylors as wedding sneakers. Also, they don't take up much room in your luggage if you want to bring them along as a secondary pair of shoes.

The Urban Boot
One of the most versatile shoes for traveling is a comfortably worn-in pair of Dr. Martens. The Dr. Martens brand is known for making stylish slip-resistant shoes for men and women since 1901, and a pair of their boots can be worn in a variety of contexts, from semi-formal to casual. If the 1990s taught us nothing else, we learned that "Docs" (as they're called by fans of the brand) could be worn with shorts, jeans, chinos, dresses, and even formal suits.

Since a pair of Docs can take up more space in your luggage than most of the shoes listed here, wear them as you travel and pack a lighter secondary style of shoe. Once you break in a pair of Docs, they'll be more than comfortable enough for travel days.

Docs come in many styles, including classic lace-up boots of varying heights, Chelsea-style boots, Oxford-style low-tops, sandals, tassel loafers, Mary Janes, brogue-style shoes, and slip-ons. The company makes vegan alternatives in many of the styles.

Low-Profile Hiking Shoes
Another popular shoe choice for those traveling light are low-profile hiking shoes. Youheum Son, a minimalism life coach whose YouTube channel "Heal Your Living" inspires viewers to find joy in living more simply, often recommends a barefoot-style shoe as part of an overall goal of being more mindful while walking. "I try my best not to stomp, drag, or walk unevenly," she writes. "I also practice natural and organic movement through hiking, long-distance walking, gardening, and other activities."

Some of her recommendations have included the Merrell Vapor Glove 3, Vivobarefoot sandals, Ahinsa Bare Ankle Lifo+ vegan boots, and a few options from a company called Xero Shoes.

Sandal Territory
4 Footwear Choices When Traveling Light, Flip flops
For some, the measure of a terrific vacation is not having to wash any socks when you get back. If you're going to the beach or a tropical climate, you may need little else for your feet than a pair of flip flops or sandals. But sandals can be useful in other climates and terrains, such as summer in New Mexico or Colorado.

Again, your personal style dictates the brand. California surfers often gravitate towards flip flops from Rainbow Sandals, a company from Orange County, California. Customers tend to love Rainbow Sandals because the shoes mold to their feet over time, making them incredibly comfortable.

Then there are Birkenstock sandals. These classics used to be relegated to hippies, but they're becoming more fashionable now that more people are discovering how amazingly comfortable they are once they're broken in.

And don't forget the original Chaco sandals! The company has been around since its inception in 1989 by a Colorado rafting guide, and the sandals were created to be used both in and out of water.

We hope you find this article on 4 footwear choices when traveling light will help you prepare for your next adventure! Do you have a favorite travel shoe? Let us know in the comments.

Things to Consider Before Retiring to Another Country, Lake
Retirement used to mean retiring to your front porch and watching the world go by. Today, however, with technology and air travel you can retire to about any country you want and start an entirely new life. However, there are some things that you need to consider and find out before you make that final decision. In this blog, you can find a few of those things.

Here are Things to Consider Before Retiring to Another Country

What's Legal and What Isn't
Retiring in another country means abiding by that country's laws, and those laws could very well differ from the laws in the United States. It's extremely important to find out the laws of the country you're going to be living in. Breaking them isn't excused by ignorance of the laws themselves. For example, just because CBD drops are legal in some countries, this doesn't mean they are legal in others, so if you use them, make sure to check the local laws before taking them with you.

Cost of Living
One of the biggest reasons many people consider retiring to another country is that often the cost of living is cheaper. However, that's according to the country you choose to retire in. You need to do deep research into the country of your choice to make sure you can afford to retire there. It's a great idea to sit down and figure out a retirement plan once you figure out the cost of living in the country you choose as well, especially for those who will be living on a fixed income.

The Difference in Culture
Each area of the world has its own culture, and the culture you move into may be nothing like what you're used to in the United States. It's also possible that the country you move to might not hold the same values or have the same set of beliefs that you do. That doesn't mean they are wrong, just that they're different. Make sure that you study the culture and decide if you can handle the difference in values and beliefs ahead of time. Even if you're moving to a different area inside of the states, you'll find different cultures within your nation, so do your homework well.

Obstacles to Working
Many retirees are deciding to bring in extra money by doing side jobs or working online. If you retire in another country you may run into not being able to do certain jobs because you are a non-resident and can't do certain jobs. You could easily offend someone as well. For example, in some Asian countries, taking someone's business card and slipping it into your pocket without looking at it can be taken as a slight to that person and their business. So, study up on what you're allowed to do for a job in the country you're considering for retirement, and study up on what offends the citizens and what doesn't to be on the safe side.

Consider a Dress Rehearsal
Instead of just jumping on the plane and settling into your country of choice, why not do a dress rehearsal first? Rent a house and live in the area for at least six months. Study, research, and immerse yourself in the culture of the area. If after six months you're still in love with the country, then start making plans to retire there and live out the rest of your days happily.

These are just a few of the things that you should consider when you're thinking of retiring in another country. While living abroad is great, you need to make sure that you know what you're in for. Do your research, take your time, and make the best decision for you and the one you love in your golden years.

Accidents happen on a daily basis and as a traveler, you need to be prepared. I don't usually find it anything to worry about but I have found over the years that it certainly helps to be prepared. The first aid kit is one of the most important things to help with that preparation, so it is therefore important to organize one when heading out on the road.
Organizing Your Travel Medical Kit
The things we use 99% of the time are painkillers or band-aids/bandages of some sort so adding those to your first aid kit is a great first step. However, It is also really important to be ready for that 1% chance that things may actually get more serious!  Especially when you travel with children I find the peace of mind and convenience of having things already on hand is really valuable.

A first aid kit gives you the ability to provide quick medical assistance while professional medical assistance is not yet accessible or even available at all. You can never overestimate the importance of a travel first aid kit, especially during emergency situations. Someone around you may ingest a harmful substance, perhaps your child has an allergic reaction or is bit by a dog. Instead of being just a bystander, you can become an invaluable support to the victim.

Organizing Your Travel Medical Kit

Organizing Your Travel Medical Kit, First aid kit
To have peace of mind, you need a medical kit within reach whenever you go on travel. Whether you are an experienced traveler or a beginner backpacker, here’s a handy checklist of things your first aid kit should contain:
  • Band-aids and gauze pads – These will help treat injuries of any size. Keep a pack of band-aids and gauze pads of several sizes. Otherwise, you may just buy large gauze pads and just cut them down to the size you need in case of any emergency.
  • Antiseptic – An anti-septic will help prevent infection when cleaning wounds and scrapes. While you may use soap and water to flush out dirt and debris from a wound, antiseptics not only cleanse the wound but also provide pain relief.
  • Antibiotic Ointment – This can go a long way and can also be used in cuts, wounds, and scrapes to prevent infection.
  • Analgesic – This is a type of pain reliever that can combat migraines, toothache, and other forms of body ache. Include some ibuprofen and aspirin if analgesic does not work for you.
  • Antihistamine – if in case you suffer from severe allergies, antihistamines such as Aerius tablets will help combat the negative effects it brings. I also have found them useful for dealing with hives, bee stings, or even scorpion sings like we experienced while living in Costa Rica.
  • Disinfectant and rubbing alcohol – Alcohol wipes are more ideal when on travel but it’s best to have rubbing alcohol or disinfectant on hand.  You can usually pick this up quite easily when landing someplace as well.
  • Scissors – it should be obvious why you need scissors but they really come handy in case of emergency when you need to cut clothing, adhesive tapes, or any materials needed in emergency situations. But be careful if using only carry on as you won't be able to get scissors through.  Only add them if you have checked bags.
  • Latex Gloves – Using latex gloves is a clean and necessary way to protect yourself against bacteria or other contaminants during emergency situations.  I've found them helpful even in a non-medical situation to deal with a whole host of gross things you may want to protect your hands from.
  • Tweezers – they can be used to remove hangnails, stingers, splinters, and ingrown hairs.   I've found you can usually get these on a plane even if you only have carried on.
  • Instant Cold and Hot Pack – you can apply them on bruises, bumps, and sprains. They sell pretty small ones so having one on hand is great.  Sometimes I even carry a small heating pad as personally, they help for a whole bunch of uncomfortable things such as cramps, headaches, etc.
Other things to include in a first aid kit are motion sickness tablets, contraceptive pills, prescription drugs, and general vitamins or supplements. Taking supplements like multivitamins or CBD gummies can greatly improve your chances of staying healthy while traveling in a foreign country.

You can also search for emergency numbers in the country you are visiting to ensure your safety. I usually ask at the front desk when checking into a hotel so I feel less panicked if something goes wrong in the middle of the night!

Thorough research about the common diseases in that area is also helpful to know what you will do in case you feel ill while traveling.

Traveling is fun especially when you know you are safe, and often having a health kit in your bag gives you the assurance that all will be well during your vacation.

This is by no means an all-inclusive list and each family will have their own needs but I find it to be a good basic start. What first aid supplies do you travel with? Ever had to use any of it? Tell us about it in the comments below!

When most people travel, they try to minimize the amount of luggage they take with them. This is a wise approach. Carrying too much baggage is a pain and can work out very expensive. So, it does not make sense to carry anything you do not need. Especially when backpacking.

As a result, most of us tend to stick to packing casual clothes. Typically, this works out well because these types of clothes are perfect for most of the activities you will be doing during your trip. However, every now and again you need to look smart.

Perhaps you get invited to a party. Or, maybe, as a long-term traveler you need to stop off and work somewhere for a few weeks. In both situations, you will want something nicer to wear than a pair of shorts and a tank top. So, what do you pack? How do you get the balance right? You want access to smart clothes without using up too much space in your case. Well, here are a few outfit suggestions to help you to solve that particular conundrum.

A soft pencil skirt
Pencil skirts look great on virtually any woman. If you choose one that is made from a soft fabric like jersey it will pack up nice and tight, without creasing. Lace is another option, especially if you are going to a special event like a wedding while you are away. It can also work for a nice meal out.

A flowing maxi skirts
Maxi skirts are another great option. They can look really glamorous when worn with a blouse. But, you can just as easily take it to the beach to put on over your swimwear when you want to go for lunch in a nice restaurant. Paired with a stylish top this kind of skirt could potentially be worn for a party. And they are also very comfortable for traveling in.

Smart trousers
Rather than pack two pairs of jeans, why not swap one of them for a pair of smart trousers. A pair of close-fitting chino trousers can look very smart when worn with heels and a crisp white, tailored blouse. The fact they are made from cotton means they are really good for when you are traveling in a hot climate. Natural fabrics allow your skin to breathe and wick moisture away from your body. Wearing natural fabrics is a good habit to get into. This article explains why that is.

Low heels
Trainers and flat sandals are great for traveling in. They are super comfortable, but, a pair of low-heels can really lift your look. Kitten heel slingbacks or court shoes look super smart. They are comfortable and can just as easily be worn with a pair of jeans as they can with a skirt or dress. Importantly, they will not take up a lot of space in your case. Picking up some stylish booties for women can really complete your look.

Traveling with young children is not always easy, but if you want to go on holiday, it is something you just have to bite the bullet and get on with. Thankfully lots of people have already been there before you, including us about 100 times over, and we have put together the best tried and tested tips to help make your flight as comfortable and easy as possible when you have little people in tow.

Best Tips for Parents Flying with Kids

Know Your Airline
First of all, you should take the time to check the regulations with the specific airline you have chosen to use. There are differences between each one concerning things like how many baby items you can take with you, for example, travel cribs and strollers.

If you are going on holiday, it's worth checking with your accommodation as well as many have these hard to travel with items that are available as part of the package or to hire for a nominal fee. If you can navigate the airport without needing them you will save yourself a lot of hassle.

Know the age limits for children requiring their own seat, and when it is acceptable to have the child in the arms of a parent for a whole flight. We oftentimes just look at actual money savings but sometimes the extra couple hundred dollars are worth it to have a little more space to utilize.

All major airlines offer priority boarding as standard to parents with babies, so take advantage of this if it helps. For us, we always wait until the end as our energetic little ones need to run around as long as possible. Try both and do whatever works for you.

Make Things Simple

This is possibly the wrong time to show off your toddler's newfound ability to use the bathroom. Pop your child in pull-ups for the duration and should accidents occur the damage is limited and clean up simple. Do make sure you have spare clothes easily accessible as you never know if they may soil themselves or end up being sick. This is a lesson hard-learned by not being totally prepared. Believe me, it's not just the child that needs extra clothes, consider bringing another top for yourself as well and zip lock bags to contain the soiled items.

Wet wipes, baby detergent, and children's Tylenol are also well-advised to be kept close as you never know when they might be a godsend. Make sure each child has their own bag of goodies to keep them entertained - keep it simple but have a few different things to do as even an hour flight can seem to take forever when you have bored or fractious children.

Try and book a trip that plays to the typical bedtime of your little one. If you can get them to sleep for most or all of the flight, you will solve all your problems in one go. And don't be afraid to let the kiddos use a tablet or phone, they won't become addicts or turn into couch potatoes in 1 day and it may well save you loads of frustrations.

Understand Compensation Rules
Sadly delays have become a regular part of flight travel, but that is not to say they should become acceptable. A delay of more than three hours can be stressful enough for adults but trying to calm kids and keep them entertained can really ruin the opening of your trip. Under EU rules in this situation, you are entitled to claim compensation, and you really should take up that right once you are back in the country.

The airport should offer you a food and drink voucher which at least means you can distract them for some of the time, and a walk through the airport could mean they are nicely tired when you do finally get to board. However, be sure to claim your compensation to make up for the inconvenience.

If you do miss a flight or have a delay be sure to check out the airport for playgrounds and other entertainment ideas, some airports even have hotel beds and mini amusement parks. You never know unless you inquire. And do not hesitate to make a stink with the airport if it was their mistake. I've gotten all kinds of further travel vouchers because of massive delays in the past!
