Biking

There are great bike paths running all throughout San Diego's neighborhoods and hot spots. The Bayshore Bikeway is a good option if you're looking for a nice relaxing bike ride along the water. The Bikeway is a 25-mile long stretch so you can really go for as long as you want.

More skilled cyclists try their hands at biking along the historic Highway 101 which stretches along the scenic San Diego coastline and passes through some adorable beach towns like Del Mar, Leucadia, and Encinitas.

Surfing
Surfing is a fun option for people who love the ocean. And San Diego has no shortage of spots for surfers of all skill levels to hang ten. La Jolla Shores has nice mellow waves and a sandy floor for beginners. Conrado Beach is another perfect spot for beginners and novice surfers looking to improve their confidence and skill. Conrado is also a very family-friendly beach.

Intermediate surfers may want to check out Swami’s Beach in Encinitas. And Windansea Beach features a strong surf break created by reefs under the water. Windansea Beach is only recommended for experienced surfers looking for a wild ride.

Kayaking

Okay so maybe you love the water but getting pounded by waves isn't for you (understandable). Kayaking may be the solution for you. Not only is kayaking an awesome way to explore the shoreline, but it's also an outstanding full-body workout and you can control how intense you want it to be.

You can kayak pretty much any place along the San Diego coastline including the protected waters of San Diego Bay and Mission Bay as well as many freshwater reservoirs and lakes, many of them suitable for kayaking and kayak fishing.

Kayakers often head out from La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove to paddle along tidal caves and small inlets. If you're lucky you may even spot a curious sea lion resting on the rocks or swimming alongside your kayak.

Trying out a Gym
Simply heading to the gym can be a great option for those who want a little more of a structured workout. Or maybe for those who don't have a lot of free time and want to have a quick intense workout when they get a chance.

Many gyms in San Diego are beginning to open up as California opens in stages. So, keep an eye out for gyms near you.

Hiking

Hiking is perfect for people who love the outdoors and are looking for a nice relaxing workout. Extreme hikers and casual walkers enjoy the scenic trails of the 5,800-acre Mission Trails Regional Park, located just minutes away from downtown.

The Cabrillo National Monument on the tip of Point Loma peninsula is the site of a historic lighthouse and a beautiful location for hiking. You'll find plenty of easy to moderate hikes here.

Working out doesn't have to be a burden. We hope this article helps you find some of the fun activities to do in San Diego to keep you healthy during COVID. Let us know your favorite thing to do in San Diego!
