Costa Rica is diverse in beautiful beach destinations. One of our favorites, in all our time there, was the area around Montezuma, on the Nicoya Penninsula.
The beaches are beautiful, and the area is relatively serene and unspoiled. This photo was taken in the cute little town of Cabuya and it's actually an island. During high tide you need a boat to get to it, but during low tide you can walk along the rocky ocean flats to get there.
On the small island you will find a beautiful old cemetery to explore (and not much else), but be sure to time your outing right or you'll find yourself stuck out there with quite a long swim to get back!
