2011...Gratitude today and everyday

‎"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." ~Melodie Beattie

As Thanksgiving approaches I felt it would be appropriate to write a short entry about what I am thankful for. I try to feel gratitude each and every day but it is more in the forefront of everyone's mind this time of year!  The thing I am most grateful for is my family and friends without whom I know none of the other things on this list would ever be possible.  My boys are so amazing and I will be forever grateful for being such a huge part of their lives.  Their spirits, each different from the other, makes my husband and I strive to do the best we can in life. We owe them the world an we plan to give it to them.

I hope you enjoy and can draw inspiration from some of the things that I am grateful for today and everyday:

  • The time that I had in Costa Rica.  It fundamentally changed my entire family's life for the better.  We met so many amazing people that helped to shape our grasp on reality.  We are now able to put the world in perspective!
  • The ability to stay at home with my children, whom I adore as much when they make me crazy as when they are sweet as pie.
  • Our ability to travel and our togetherness of spirit that always seems to flow in the same directions at the same time.
  • Our dedication as a married couple to place experiences above material possessions.
  • The kindness of strangers around the world and the ability to focus on those kindnesses.
  • The great health that my family has had for so long.
  • The radiant beauty of this world.
  • Technology that helps me to teach my children and work so we can travel the world.
  • Knowledge gained and personal growth that improves daily.
  • The mistakes I have made and the lessons learned from those mistakes.
  • Ladies night at Don Tadeos, it was just too good to not make the list!
  • Being content with where I am in my life.  This one also has taken some doing and admittedly I am not always able to do it.  But as time goes by I find that I am grateful and content more often then I am not!
  • Freedom to follow my dreams.
  • Freedom of choice that I know not everyone feels they have.
  • My ability to be a mother.  This has shaped my life in so many ways and continues to make me a better person each and every day.
There are so many more things, it would be crazy to list them all.  I know that there is so much we take for granted and being in more developing countries over the last few years I have begun to see and appreciate it! No matter what you are grateful for this year remember to try and remind yourself of it all each and every day!  Appreciate the little things and smile as often as you can.  Happy thanksgiving all!
