5 Unusual Ways to Spend the Day in Las Vegas

Anyone can gamble while in Las Vegas. But what about spending the day swimming with a shark, or zip lining from a giant slot machine? These are just a few of the unusual ways you could spend your day while in Las Vegas.

We put together a list of 5 unusual ways to spend the day in Las Vegas, in case you wanted some inspiration!

Mini Golf with Legendary Rock Stars

Okay, you won't be golfing with the actual band members precisely, but Las Vegas does have a KISS® By Monster Mini Golf ®, a mini golf course completely dedicated to the costumed rock n' roll band.

There are 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark mini golf fun to be had, each one with a KISS theme. There is an animated replica of the band, giant guitars, and a 12-foot tall Gene Simmons head for putting into. Dress up and take some selfies in authentic KISS concert regalia. Then head to the arcade, the Gallery, or KISS gift shop. It's KISS everywhere! There are even KISS party rooms, and a "Hotter Than Hell" Wedding chapel if you truly want to "Rock n' Roll All Night!"

Ride Wild Roller Coasters

Lots of casinos and hotels offer thrill rides, and you can locate them by using a site like Gogobot. For example, Circus Circus features Adventuredome with Canyon Blaster, an indoor, double-
corkscrew, double-loop coaster.

The Stratosphere Casino Hotel has four sky-high outdoor thrill rides to give you a little jolt. SkyJump drops you into a controlled 108-floor free fall. From the roof, Insanity takes you 64 feet over the edge and spins around creating 3 Gs of fun. X-Scream is a space-age teeter-totter ride that takes you head first over the edge of the building. And finally, Big Shot propels you 160 feet in the air at 45 mph.

Yikes, those are not for me but I know a few thrill seekers in my own family that would love it!

Dive with the Sharks

Mandalay Bay features Shark Reef, North America's only predator-based aquarium. Spend 45 minutes swimming with moray eels, piranhas, rare golden crocodiles, and 15 different species of sharks. Don't worry about getting the bends, you go no deeper than 22 feet. If you're worried about being eaten, don't be; they feed the sharks before you get in. Oh, yeah, you're also wearing a chain mail anti-shark suit.

Bodies...The Exhibition

The Luxor hosts the most unusual display of the human body ever concocted – Bodies...The Exhibition. This informative exhibition of the human body uses an innovative preservation process for displaying real full bodies and organs. Highlights include 13 whole-body specimens and 260 organs and partial body views. See inside the skeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and muscular systems.

Slotzilla

At 120-feet high, this giant slot machine platform has two levels. From the lower level, riders take off 70 feet and travel 850 feet to the opposing platform. The higher level shoots you out of "SlotZilla" at 35 mph and sends you 1,700 feet down Fremont Street. The attraction includes 37-feet tall showgirls, and giant slot machine arms that pull down when you take off.

  3. I agree, I think its best to try things for ourselves. That is really the only way to make an educated opinion about it. And everyone is different so even a place others hate I may very well love!

  4. Yes it really was. I mean nothing replaces actually talking to locals of an area but a luau is a great beginning!

  5. Make sure you do when you come:) The fire part was the kids favorite but I have to admit that the fire dancers on the beaches of Thailand were far more amazing!

  8. I'm hesitant about going because my husband is allergic to shellfish and I don't eat red meat so I'm worried that between the shrimp and the pig that there won't be many food options (but I do like mac & cheese). Can you tell us more about what the adults ate?

  9. And free drinks, don't forget that!

  10. I don;t eat red meat or shellfish either. There was lots of pork but I don't eat that either:) There were also many salads, poi, and our favorite chicken lau lau. Really there was plenty of food even if you don't eat meat at all! And hey there is always the mac and cheese;)
