Siem Reap is one of the most popular destinations in Cambodia. As it is the town nearest to Angkor Wat, a worldwide treasure, the amount of hotels is staggering. Everything is available from hostels, to guesthouses, to 4 star resorts. With all these choices it can be a bit daunting to try and decide on a place to stay.
We stayed at the Palm Villa Resort. The resort is a perfect spot to use as a base when exploring the spectacular Angkor temples.
The resort itself offers a simple fan bamboo hut or an AC cabin that is slightly nicer and of varying size. We opted for the AC and were glad that we did. It comfortably fit all 5 of us and even included an amazing breakfast. We stayed at the Palm Village resort for a full week and had an amazing stay.
The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful. They effortlessly catered to our every need without ever intruding on our privacy. The tuk tuk driver for the resort turned out to be a great friend for our week's stay, being both kind and fair! The restaurant food was prepared with fresh ingredients and always wafted delicous aromas our way. We ate at least two meals a day there.
For entertainment there is a pool table and enough space on the grounds for kids to run around and explore. There were even a few puppies to entertain my little guys. But perhaps the best feature was the pool. Salt water and kept at the most sublime temperature. A wonderful treat especially after spending hours with the sun heating your body while touring temples. There is also a spa for cheap massages, yoga, and other treatments.
Room features were hot water, A/C or fan, refrigerator, cable TV, and comfortable beds. Free WIFI worked well throughout the resort complex with video streaming speed. Depending on the room type and time of year you can expect to pay anywhere from $25-60 US per night including breakfast. It's well worth it as Palm Village Resort is an affordable paradise in a sea full of sub-par hotels and guesthouses.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteYour blog was interested to read, and a few question came into my mind. Perhaps you can answer them. I am going to Cambodia on September this year. Besides Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam are also listed to be visited. But still I have a question about a hotel you might have seen during your visit in Siem Reap. I booked the following hotel: Tara Angkor Hotel. You know if it is a good hotel? I heard good stories about it. What are the best attractions to visit in Siem Reap and in the surrounding?

ReplyDeleteHello, could you let me know the website address for the accom you have recommended. As when I google Palm Village Resort & Spa a very fancy resort comes up, it looks a bit different from your photos. Thanks
ReplyDeleteSure thing, it's http://palmvillage.com.kh/ That is definitely the right one:)
DeleteThanks. Yes, it was the one that I contacted then, alas their 'best rate' for 6 nights was discounted to $77 per night. They didn't seem receptive to $35/night - darn! As it sounds a perfect place.
DeleteAww, bummer. I guess they upgraded and things are a little more pricey. I also think when you just go there you get a better rate than when you book online.
